Founding a start-up is an intense roller coaster ride. Running a start-up along with your regular life is that intense roller coaster ride on steroids. So what drives people to take on something like this? It’s the passion you have for making your ideas work … and the satisfaction when a user or a customer writes these words to you:
We are so excited to use Karmic in our family. We have used many different apps to try to organize our family life. We use this app as a productivity, habit tracking, to-do app. We are a family of 5, with three children 4 and under. My husband works full time and I am a stay at home mom, together we also run a business from home. So to say that we have many plates we are trying to keep spinning is an understatement.
In our family we have budgeted a certain amount into our monthly budget that we give ourselves for an allowance. Any personal purchases we make come out of that fund, phone upgrades, gifts for one another, apps, books, going out to eat all comes out of our allowances. But the catch is that we have to earn our allowance through points. We have figured up the total amount of points that we could possibly make in a month and then entered as a reward our allowance in $5 increments. We have all of our household chores listed and then we have goals that we are working on as well. For example one of my goals is reading to my children so I have that as a way to earn points, or I am trying to work on being healthier so getting 10,000 steps in every day gives me points.
What I like about Karmic is that I can create routines for different parts of my day so I have morning routine set up for when I first get up till when my husband leaves for work. I know that all of these things need to be done during that time. This is very nice that when you have a lot of different things that you are marking off daily you don’t have to see the entire day’s work right in front of you with the routines. It helps to break it down into manageable portions.
I have told friends and family about the app and they say “But we don’t do allowances”. The great thing about this app is that you don’t have to. Your rewards can be whatever you want them to be. If it is a couple with kids doing it together one of the rewards could be the other one takes the kids for the night and lets you get out, the options are limitless! You just have to find what rewards you are willing to work for and then make yourself or your kids only get those rewards when you have accomplished enough deeds to earn the points.
